The U-13s won 5-0, the U-15s won 3-2, the U-17s won 5-0 and the U-19s won 9-5. The Under-19s are a high scoring team as they already won 9-1 a week earlier.
Yaseen Bunting, who already scored five goals last week, added another four against Sporting FC. Mthokosizi Balakazi added a brace for the U-19s side.
Nhlakanipho ‘Podolski’ Mwandla, meanwhile, was in great form for Chiefs’ U-17s, netting three times. The side’s win looked easy, but it was also thanks to an excellent performance of their goalkeeper, Bontle Molefe, that a clean sheet was kept.
Balakazi and Molefe have both been selected for South Africa’s Under-17s side.
Chiefs’ youth side playing in the SAB League (the third division) consists of players under the age of 19 and members of the reserve side. The team lost 3-1 to Orlando Pirates on Sunday afternoon. They are now second on the log, one point behind the Buccaneers with still five games to go.
The next opponent of this SAB League playing side will be Randburg FC on Saturday, 7 April.
