Christmas message from the Chairman, Dr Kaizer Motaung

As we celebrate the birth our saviour Jesus Christ, I would like to take this opportunity to wish the entire Amakhosi family a Merry Christmas. This is a very important time for millions across the world, a time for joy, reconnection, and reflection on the journeys we have travelled. Many of you have once again ventured far and wide to reunite with loved ones you have not seen in a long time, and I hope these moments bring you peace and happiness.

As we celebrate, it is important that we do so responsibly and remember that the long and demanding month of January is just around the corner. I encourage everybody to behave and spend wisely while we cherish the true meaning of this festive season, which is about love, family, togetherness and creating lasting memories.

This year has been a special one for Kaizer Chiefs. We celebrated our 55th anniversary, a milestone that speaks to the legacy and resilience of our Club. To put the cherry on top, our senior team rewarded your unwavering support with the Nedbank Cup trophy and a return to one of CAF’s club competitions, the Confederation Cup. Our reserve team also made history by lifting the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) trophy for the very first time in record-breaking fashion. These achievements are gifts that we hope have brought smiles to our loyal supporters in 2025.

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our hardworking players who wear the Gold & Black colours with pride, from the senior team all the way to our U13s, as well as our coaches and technical staff for all the six teams we have at the Village - not forgetting our sister team, Springs Home Sweepers. Your dedication has been inspiring. To our board members, sponsors, PSL colleagues, and all staff members, thank you for your commitment and passion. May you enjoy a peaceful and joyful time with your families and friends.

We also send our best wishes to our national men’s team, Bafana Bafana, who are currently in Morocco representing Mzansi at the Africa Cup of Nations. We watched the opening game against Angola and now look forward to the clash against Egypt on Family Day, 26 December. As Kaizer Chiefs, we know the challenges of playing against teams from those countries after recently playing Kabuscorp of Angola and Zamalek and Al Masry from Egypt, yet we believe in your strength and resilience as South Africans to prevail.

To our cherished compatriots, let us please work together as a nation and in our individual capacities to reduce the tragic fatalities that occur all too frequently during this busy period by adhering to safety rules and regulations on our roads. Let us share gifts with our loved ones, spread Love and Peace, and continue to pray for our country and its leaders as we look forward to a brighter 2026.

On behalf of Kaizer Chiefs, as we observe this holy time for Christians around the globe, I wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Love & Peace,

Dr Kaizer Motaung

Executive Chairman, Kaizer Chiefs
