Legend Sylvester ‘City’ Kole has backed the Glamour Boys to put what has been a tough week behind them when they host Platinum Stars at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Glamour Boys were knocked out earlier this week by Platinum Stars in the Telkom Knockout with Football Manager admitting earlier in the week, “we are worried to have lost two cups this season already. Our focus now will be on bouncing back and to start picking up points,”

‘City’ who donned the gold and black from 1976-1989 said speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Friday afternoon; “I am sure that the players realise that they have to bounce back following what has been a difficult week. They are professionals and understand it that they have to pick up points early in the season if they are to be counted in May. I believe they will beat Stars come Saturday.

“Chiefs have players like Tinashe Nengomasha for his experience and Siphiwe Tshabalala who in my opinion is on form. The two players including Reneilwe Letsholonyane should lead from the front and motivate the team.

“The second round of the season is always tougher and if you win games now you make things much easier for yourself. The team has not done badly at all if you look at where they are in the league table.

Kole who occasionally was given the captain’s armband during his 15 year stay with the Glamour Boys has backed newly appointed captain, Itumeleng Khune to succeed as a captain.

“He (Itumeleng Khune) will do the job. He is the last line of defence so he is in a position to read the game better than any player on the pitch. He will be carrying the team and will need to have a strong personality. I have no doubt that with the support from the senior players, the Technical Team and the Management he will be a good captain for the side.
