Ajax Cape Town vs. Kaizer Chiefs

Firstly let me congratulate Ajax Cape Town for their victory and our boys for fighting to the finish of a pulsating match the previous Friday.

I am happy that both teams gave their supporters a memorable event judging from the electrifying performance that was displayed.

On many occasions we saw both teams launching counter attacks and coming close to scoring but were denied by the brilliance of our goalkeepers.

For me a draw would have been a fair result but the penalty decider was the ultimate outcome in a match that is by far our toughest following our victory against Sundowns recently. I am however still proud of my players even though we lost the game.

People once again are talking about us losing the grip in the league; something that I believe is premature at this stage.

They may not realize that the game against Ajax Cape Town was our 14th which means we are not even halfway. There are 16 games still to play and more points on offer. I feel the marathon is still on and Kaizer Chiefs is still in competition with the rest of the teams in the Premier League.

Having said that I was not happy with the way we defended against Ajax Cape Town. We played offside trap and this was not the plan. I discussed this with the players this week and hope that it would be resolved.

May I thank our supporters who came in numbers last Friday and hope they do so in our forthcoming home games.

Preview: Kaizer Chiefs vs. AmaZulu

The game against Amazulu on Wednesday evening at the FNB Stadium gives us an opportunity to bounce back and challenge for the honours.

Our visitors will be fighting for maximum points following their loss to Golden Arrows in their recent match. I think the stakes are high for both teams and we may not undermine their determination to want to redeem themselves at our expense.

We are however better prepared despite the services of Tinashe Nengomasha and Punch Masenamela who are suspended.

Siphiwe Tshabalala is off to the UK for assessment. I do believe though we have enough depth in the team to win the game. Valery Nahayo is available for selection after missing the trip to Cape Town due to suspension.

Preparations for the game have been good despite few absentees. We are playing at home and it is our intention to bounce back to winning ways. I would like to see you all at FNB.

Lucky Baloyi’s recall

We have decided to recall young defender, Lucky Baloyi who was loaned to Soweto Panthers at the beginning of the season.

There is no doubt that Lucky has a bright future ahead of him. He now has an opportunity to work with the first team on a regular basis and learn from the likes of Dominic Isaacs, Valery Nahayo and Thomas Sweswe.

We have also been keeping an eye on the other players who have been loaned there like Ninja Ramabu, Mpho Sitayitayi and Abraham Jacobs. We are pleased with their progress.

Stanton Lewis

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Stanton Lewis. He is a good addition to the Club and I have no doubt that he has a bright future ahead of him.

Lastly thanks for your support. I just hope we stop the tendency to boo and abuse our players.

I believe we can use the power of our numbers on the grandstands to overcome our opponents instead of destabilising our players and breaking their concentration and confidence.
