Team manager Bobby Motaung said the team was rearing to go and that players will be highly motivated as they set out to defend their crown. "It is important for us to start positively in this competition," said Motaung.
"We do not want to shame the country and our supporters by not reaching the final. And we want to avoid a disaster as it is clear that without Chiefs in the final, the competition loses it’s glamour and excitement as the supporters also stay away," he said.
The Glamour Boys sensationally won the 2001 edition with a 5-0 hammering over Jomo Cosmos at FNB Stadium with Jabu Pule winning the player of the tournament award.
