The bid to reengineer the Communications machinery at Kaizer Chiefs continues to gain momentum. The Club’s Chairman Mr. Kaizer Motaung has today announced the appointment of Mr Siyabulela Makunga as the new Public Relations Manager.

“In an endeavor to restructure and strengthen our communications armory, we saw it appropriate to carefully identify individuals who could employ their credible experience to take to new heights, our communications and public relations programme” the Chairman said.

“Makunga” has over seven years of invaluable communications and marketing experience that he gained from organizations of diverse background. These include the government departments of Land Affairs, Correctional Services, Minerals and Energy, Nerpo, Nedlac and the University of the Witwatersrand. He is a Chartered Public Relations Practitioner who is accredited by the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA).

“I am humbled and thrilled by this appointment. It presents me with a fulfilling and wonderful opportunity to grow in the fast-moving communications and marketing industry. Considering that Kaizer Chiefs is undergoing a vigorous restructuring process, it excites me to be part of a more refreshed, energetic and vibrant football brand,” says the Eastern Cape-born communications visionary.

“Above all I consider my move as an affirmation to a long overdue Home Coming. My heart has always been with Kaizer Chiefs,” he argued.

Makunga will primarily be responsible for driving a “dynamic, vibrant and multidimensional communications and public relations strategy that sought to resuscitate healthy working relations with our major stakeholders, the supporters, fans and the media”. His role at Kaizer Chiefs is due to revive the fortitude of “Amakhosi 4 Life”

“The move to reshape our communications department is underpinned by our new strategic vision, to make Kaizer Chiefs a natural choice for all South Africa’s soccer fanatics, while ensuring that it becomes a global competitive and commercially viable football brand” Mr Motaung added.
