“I would like to congratulations all the newly elected leaders at both regional and provincial levels,” says Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung upon hearing that the KwaZulu-Natal branches selected a provincial structure as well as regional structures/clusters last weekend.

“Being a leader is possibly the most difficult challenge you will even have to face in life but it is also by far the most rewarding,” added Motaung.

The KwaZulu-Natal branches arrived at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium in their numbers for a workshop before the Raja Casablanca clash on Saturday.

“We had a fantastic turn-out,” Amakhosi Supporters Relationship Manager Tracy Williams enthuses, as nearly all branches had representatives at the meeting.

The workshop was divided into two parts - the first two hours focused on branch structures and the new strategy. There was also an update about the Amakhosi Supporters Club.

Post-lunch the branches were divided into four regions. After much caucusing and electioneering the branches voted for their regional structure. Hereafter, the newly elected regional structures/clusters were asked to remain in the venue to start another campaign, this time with an eye to vote for the provincial structure.

“It was democracy in action under extenuating circumstances,” reflected Williams, indicating that voting is not always an easy process, but that it’s necessary to achieve the objectives. She also stressed that a strong leadership structure has been put in place. The individuals elected will serve the supporters and Kaizer Chiefs well.

“We are looking forward to a thriving Amakhosi base in this province,” Chiefs’ Supporters Relationship Manager added.

Norman Mkhize was appointed by Head Office as the strategic advisor to the province in recognition of his long standing service record and his undying love for Amakhosi.

Sonnyboy Mbatha was elected as the chairman for KwaZulu-Natal with Adednigo Jula as the deputy chairman. Others selected to make up the core team of the provincial structure are Nokuthula Khoza (general secretary), Sharon Hendricks (deputy secretary), Lungani Khanyile (treasure), Siyanda Mzotho (organiser) and Mzonkuthula Khumalo (marketing).
