The glittering ceremony was attended by the Deputy President, Kgalema Motlanthe, Minister of Sports, Fikile “Razzmatazz” Mbalula while Football Manager, Bobby Motaung, EL Capitan Jimmy Tau and Siphiwe Tshabalala represented the Club.

Hashim Amla was recognized ahead of other nominees like Master golf champion Charl Schwartzel, swimming world record holder Cameron van der Burgh, Springbok sevens fly half Cecil Africa and leading Banyana Banyana goal scorer Noko Matlou.

Golfer Ernie Els, Danny Jordaan, Dr. Irvin Khoza, Molefi Oliphant and Peter Thage all received Steve Tshwete lifetime achievement awards.

FIFA 2010 World Cup ambassadors, Doctor Khumalo, Jomo Sono, Lucas Radebe, Kalusha Bwalya, Phil Masinga, Desiree Ellis were also honoured.
