“It is always a big game travelling to Celtic,” Erick ‘Tower’ Mathoho reacts ahead of Kaizer Chiefs’ trip to face Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday evening.

Tower arrived back from the Africa Cup of Nations last week. He insists: “I am fresh and looking forward to combine well with my teammates to continue where we left off before the break.” The encounter will be played at the Free State Stadium (kick-off is at 19:30).

“We learned a lot of things at the Afcon,” continues Mathoho. “Playing against overseas based and experienced players was an eye-opener, which will come handy in the domestic league and cup matches.”

Tower is a former Bloemfontein Celtic defender. He says to have moved on with his career: “I had good moments at Celtic but now I am a Glamour Boy.

Celtic is not a so-called small team. They have the backing of their passionate supporters.”

Chiefs are leading the log at the moment but Tower warns: “It is still a long way to go to the last game. We take each game as it comes. Celtic will look at breaking our momentum, but they will find us ready to defend our pride and the badge.”

Tower is not worried about fatigue from the Africa Cup of Nations or the negative impact of the break: “We are professionals, we have to go on and perform on the field, and the rest is just a state of mind that we will be able to deal with.”

The towering defender reminds the fans to attend the Amakhosi matches in huge numbers as we are heading to the grand finale of the 2014/15 PSL season: “This is the month of love and we at Chiefs are all about Love and Peace.”
