Both teams didn’t play this past weekend due to the MTN8 cup final. “We exploited the break to work and improve our systems,” explains the Italian. “Sometimes a mini-break is good to polish some of the areas in the team. We would have liked to keep the momentum though.”
Chiefs are on a roll of three back-to-back wins as they take on Highlands Park at Tembisa’s Makhulong Stadium.
Amakhosi occupy a healthy third spot on the log after playing eight matches with thirteen points and one point adrift of log leaders Orlando Pirates.
“We used this past week to consolidate several technical aspects of our game,” adds Solinas. “It is always about continuously improving. The players are responding positively.”
Highlands Park welcome Amakhosi at the back of only one loss in their six league games so far. They occupy ninth spot with seven points.
“They have a fine side considering their results against some of the top teams,” comments Solinas, referring to Highlands Park holding both Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates to stalemates.
“They have some good players like Moeketsi Sekola whom I coached at Free State Stars,” Solinas pointed out, before identifying another danger man in the Highlands Park team, “they also have Mothobi Mvala, who is tricky to play against.”
Chiefs still have Leonardo Castro out with an ankle injury, while Joseph Molangoane is recovering well from his broken leg. Erick Mathoho is back in full training, while George Maluleka is fully fit again and is available for selection tonight.
The Amakhosi camp is brimming with confidence and the match is poised to be a spectacular affair.
Kick-off is at 19:30 and the match is sold out.
