“We dominated the entire game,” commented coach Arthur Zwane after the 2-2 draw against Black Leopards Reserves. “We continued to be in charge even after we received a red card. It was still early in the second half when we went one-man down after defender Ntokozo Mbatha got the marching orders.”
Kaizer Chiefs Reserves were held to a 2-2 draw in a MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) fixture by Black Leopard Reserves at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
“We conceded from a set-piece when we allowed them too much space,” said Zwane. “It was a well-taken scorcher to beat any keeper on the day. Their second was just sloppiness from my players.”
Happy Mashiane and Sabelo Radebe, from the penalty spot, netted for Kaizer Chiefs.
“We scored from our strength, which is good combination play,” remarked Zwane about the Amakhosi goals. “Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Lethlogonolo Mirwa combined well to set up Mashiane’s goal.”
The game eventually resulted in a draw. That was somewhat disappointing, but the Chiefs coach is happy with his lads though, “The opponent’s players were cramping as the match progressed, but I was happy with attitude shown by my players and their fitness levels, especially because we played with one-man down for the better part of the game.”
Zwane concluded by pointing out that “I’m not happy with the results. I will not celebrate a draw at home, as we will have to win those matches. We will have to rectify this.”
The draw leaves Chiefs at seventh position on the MDC log after two matches played. The next game is scheduled for the Tembisa Asidlali Festival, which will take place at Makhulong Stadium on Heritage Day, Monday, 24 September.
Kaizer Chiefs Reserves will face Highlands Park Reserves at 13:00.
The other festival matches will kick off at 10:00 and 15:00.
Free tickets can be collected from Makhulong Stadium on Friday and Saturday from 13:00.
