Cup mission done; New mission: Sekhukhune – Miguel

It warms the heart to witness the remarkable outpouring of celebration among the Amakhosi Faithful in the wake of last weekend’s momentous Nedbank Cup victory over Orlando Pirates, yet The Glamour Boys face two highly important Betway Premiership fixtures to close out their quest to finish the campaign in the top eight.

First up is a visit to Sekhukhune United at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday, 17 May, kicking off at 15:00, and www.kaizerchiefs.com caught up for a chat with defender, Inacio Miguel, as he prepares for the showdown:

On the mood in the Chiefs camp:

The feeling is bright among the boys. They fought hard to bring the cup home, so as I said before the game, we had a mission and after the game and during the week, I can see that the mission is done. Job done.

On whether the Nedbank Cup celebrations are a distraction:

We understand 100% that our supporters are still celebrating, and so they should, but us as players, as soon as we got back to the Village we changed our focus onto the league. We know we have two difficult games now and we are taking it very seriously.

On Amakhosi’s top eight ambitions:

We have the target of top eight, but we take game by game and our attention is totally on the Sekhukhune game. If we get the three points, we are closer to the top eight and then we will try to win the last game as well.

On Sekhukhune United:

We have to be honest and say that Sekhukhune have had a good season. They are in third place. We are expecting a difficult game but we are focused on the mission to win every game we play. We have already shown them that we are capable of beating them, so we go into the match with confidence.

Message to the supporters:

To the Khosi family, I want to express my greatest appreciation for your support throughout the whole season. I hope you continue with us for our last two games because we are stronger with you. Thank you so much.
