Goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma made his debut in the Kaizer Chiefs first team jersey in the ABSA Premiership match against Cape Town City.
The match was played on Tuesday, 25 April at the Cape Town Stadium. Chiefs narrowly lost the match 3-2. City scoring the winner with the last kick of the ball.
The coach called your name in the starting line-up,
"I felt it was a dream. I didn't and still can't believe it. Even when I got home, I still thought it was a dream. But, by the Grace of God everything is possible."
Walking onto the Cape Town Stadium pitch on match day,
"I was a bit nervous. My teammates spoke to me and told me to enjoy the moment. I knew it was going to be tough but I gave it my all during the match. I settled down quickly in the game."
Losing a crunch and entertaining match,
"It is sad that we lost. Forget about my debut and think of how as a team we tried and gave our all. Personally, I wanted to debut with a win and introduce myself with a good performance. But, the team comes first."
How do you feel about your debut match?
"It is all glory to God for the opportunity. I hope to live this dream for many more years to come."
What's the future holding for Bruce?
"It is not about me. I'm just happy to be part of the Chiefs family. Thank you for the support from everybody. I urged the supporters to continue to rally behind the team and we will keep fighting until the end of the season."
Coach Steve Komphela about Bruce,
"I know we have something in Bruce. I selected him with utmost confidence that he will do the job for us. Bruce did very well.
He is not far from Khune and Khuzwayo. The goals we conceded could have beaten any goalie. I'm happy for him, the future looks bright."
Bruce is set to follow in the footsteps of Itumeleng Khune, Brilliant Khuzwayo, Brian Baloyi, Rowen Fernandez, William Shongwe and Banks Setlhodi who are amongst the other great goalkeepers that have kept goals for Amakhosi.
