Kaizer Chiefs U17 and U19 sides were both held to a draw by Orlando Pirates away in a Mayfair affair on Sunday, 15 March 2009.



The first game of the day was between Chiefs U17 and their counterpart, Orlando Pirates was an entertaining affair resulting to a 2-2 draw. It is a game the young Amakhosi should have won with ease as they cruised to a 2-0 lead with goals from Eto Nqabeni and the talented Shakes Maselelo but allowed their opponents to come back and score two goals.



They also had a penalty turned down in the 60th minute when Shakes Maselelo was brought down inside the box by the opposition goalkeeper.



U17 Coach, Doctor Khumalo told kaizerchiefs.com afterwards that he was happy with the performance of the team.



“We played well and I am proud of the boys. This team has only been playing together for a short space of time. They can only improve from here,” said Doctor.



The second game saw Chiefs U19 taking on Orlando Pirates U19 side and that game ended 1 all. Chiefs U19 dominated the first half as both teams went to the change rooms with the game still goalless.



Pirates opened the scoring in the 50th minute but Chiefs were not be denied as exciting, Lucky Khune grabbed an equaliser with a diving header much to the happiness of his big brother, Itumeleng Khune who was watching the proceedings from the stands.



Before the equaliser Chiefs had a goal disallowed by the referee due to infringement in the box.

Chiefs will now look forward welcoming their rivals in the second leg of the SAFA Soweto league.
