Chiefs U17 Development Coach, Johannes ‘Ryder’ Mofokeng was full of praise for his team after watching his charges putting a brave performance during the Engen Knockout Challenge played at Marks Park, Johannesburg between 07 to - 09 September 2012.
The young team lost their two opening games against Black Aces and Soweto Select on the opening day of the tournament. They regrouped the second day and managed to beat Mamelodi Sundowns but it was too late to book a place in the second round of the tournament.
Mofokeng told kaizerchiefs.com on Tuesday morning; “We are proud of what the boys achieved. We were unlucky to lose two of our opening games as we put our opponents under lot of pressure. Results at this level are secondary.
“I am pleased with the progress the team has made. Against Sundowns we showed class and we were clinical in front of goals. Yusuf Bunting was once more superb upfront and captain of the team, Sizwe Mavuso gave his all in the heart of the midfield. Mavuso is very passionate and was in tears after we lost the first game but we spoke to him – he does not like losing,” added Mofokeng.
