Kaizer Chiefs development teams are currently undergoing pre-season preparations, including the Reserve League (MultiChoice-Diski Challenge/MDC), SAB League (Under-19) and the SAFA Promotional League.

The Youth Development is coordinated by Conti Kubheka and the teams are under the tutelage of former Amakhosi legends, the coaches Ace Khuse (MDC) and Arthur Zwane (U17 and U19).

“By the end of this month all the teams will be ready for action,” Kubheka confirms. “The development structures are in good condition and gradually we are about to reach the expected excellence. Chairman Kaizer Motaung has a dream and we have a mandate to meet his expectations.”

Chiefs will kick-off their 2015/2016 Multi-Diski Challenge fixtures on Sunday, 6 September, against Jomo Cosmos at Makhulong Stadium, kick-off time is at 12:00.

The Under-19s will start their SAB League Johannesburg region campaign with an away clash against Jabulani Vultures on Sunday, 6 September, at a venue yet to be announced (kick-off is at 15:00).

The Promotional League (U17) will start their fixtures later in the year. “We are focusing on developing the players,” adds Kubheka. “However, we also want to get promoted to the ABC Motsepe League, because that will bridge the gap between the first team and the development sides.”

Hendrick Ekstein was promoted last season to the first team, together with Zitha Macheke and Chris Matombo. “We are happy to see Ekstein getting a run in the first team,” concludes Kubheka. “Macheke and Matombo are on loan at Chippa United and it was good to see them getting game time last weekend.”

This season has seen Andisiwe Mtsila and Siboniseni Ngcobo being promoted to the first team.
