Goalkeeper Coach Rainer Dinkelacker has come in support of the Reserve League otherwise known as Monday League after being launched last month.

Dinkelacker who had joined Football Manager, Bobby Motaung and other Kaizer Chiefs officials at Eldorado Park Stadium last Monday as Chiefs Reserves played against FC AK told kaizerchiefs.com that the League is a step forward towards right direction for South African football.

“It is going to benefit South African football in long run. I am aware that is a more of a pilot project but it needs to be continued.

Dinkelacker recalled the first time the league was introduced in 2006; “Itumeleng (Khune) got an opportunity through this league and look where he is now. Then he was an unknown and we used the game to introduce him to the big stage.

“The league is more at a high level as compared to training. The likes of Thela (Ngobeni) and (Abel) Metsimetsi need these kind of games so that there is not too much gap between them and the more regular keepers,” added Dinkelacker.

Kaizer Chiefs Reserves take on University of Pretoria (TUKS) at Eldorado Park Stadium on Monday, 06 February 2012.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
