Goalkeeper coach Rainer Dinkelacker told kaizerchiefs.com on Monday that he was pleased with the performance of new signing, Arthur Bartman despite conceding two goals in a 3-2 win against AmaZulu on Sunday.

The veteran goalkeeper, currently on his second spell with the Club, did not get any game time in his previous spell in 1998/99 season. He showed glimpses of why he is highly rated as he pulled a couple of saves helping Chiefs to secure their first league win of the season.

“We were satisfied with his performance. I also think it was a right time to bring him because when he joined us he had not played competitive football for about two months. People say we should have played him against Ajax Cape Town at Orlando but you don’t want to do that because you might kill his confidence if things don’t go well. Kabelo (Metsimetsi) had played during the preseason so we knew what he could offer,” said Dinkelacker.

The German born said he was keeping in touch with injured goalkeepers, Itumeleng Khune and Thela Ngobeni, “I remind them to work on their lower body muscles. I have no doubt that the two goalkeepers are going to bounce back. Abel Metsimetsi, Gregory Mabena and now the experience of Arthur Bartman will continue working hard at training,” he concluded.
