Amakhosi midfielder Josta Dlaldla has told kaizerchiefs.com that he would like nothing more than to collect the maximum number of points on offer when Chiefs host current league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns in an Absa Premiership on Saturday.

Chiefs are currently in second place on the league table four points behind Sundowns and a win could help the Amakhosi cut the deficit to a single point. “This game is extremely crucial for us because we know that if we able to defeat Sundowns we will close in on them at the top” explained Dladla.

Dladla has been here before and knows what the impact can be for the team coming out as the victors when the top two teams in the league clash, during his time as a Sundowns player he starred in games against Chiefs and as he explains victory in games against the Amakhosi were key in helping his former team win the title in the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 seasons.

“I remember a couple of games that I played against Chiefs when I was a Sundowns player we knew before hand that if we won we could win the title, it is the same for us now.

It won’t immediately win us the title, but winning on Saturday will help us put pressure on Sundowns and be right behind them. We must win that is the equation for us it will be a massive psychological boost for us if we are able to do that.”

With Sundowns being his former team Dladla has admitted that it is a special occasion for him when he faces them, “there is added pressure on me when I play against Sundowns. That is just of the game for me I don’t carry any grudges when I play them. I try to keep things as simple as possible and my only aim is to have a great game and hopefully inspire the team to victory.”

As the game is a clash between the two top teams in the league, Dladla believes that the midfield battle will be an intense one. “Both teams posses skilful and strong midfielder who can impose themselves on a game and also dictate the play.

In my view we need to be strong in the middle and if we can maintain our shape it will boost our chances of winning the game.”
