Doctor Khumalo, who recently returned from England where he successfully completed what is ultimately a UEFA B coaching licence, is ready for the next leg of his qualification.

“What I learned in the three weeks in England was unbelievable, what we were taught was really practical and basic if you compare the kind of coaching European junior players receive it is only going to serve to strengthen Europe’s position in world soccer” said Khumalo.

Doctor was only one of six out of a class of almost 40 who managed to obtain their licence he explains further “there were so many guys in the class only 6 passed which shows at what level this course is aimed at. They are aiming to ensure that they have a select few who are well taught and really - it is a case of quality over quantity”.

With his current qualification, Doctor could coach at junior level anywhere in the world or could hold the position of assistant coach at any top flight European team. Doctor has submitted a proposal to Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung - as he intends to return to England early next year for an Introductory course before beginning the A Level Certificate which he should complete some time in the middle of next year.

By the end of 2006 Doctor intends to complete his Professional coaching licence, which is subject to him passing the A Levels. Another junior coach Ryder Mofokeng returns in early November to the SAFA High Performance Centre in Potchefstroom to complete the third part of his level one coaching course.

The course broken down into four parts will be completed in February 2006 Ryder has successfully completed the first two parts.
