“I have known ‘Shoes’ since our high school days,” Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo reacts on the loss of his former teammate John Moshoeu.
The Amakhosi and South African soccer legend passed away on Tuesday, 21 April.
“We later played against each other when he was with Blackpool,” continues Chiefs’ assistant coach, who is a soccer legend himself.
“We knew each other already for a long time before we would eventually become teammates at Bafana Bafana. Later, Shoes joined Chiefs and he would be my roommate before games.”
Doctor Khumalo and John Moshoeu played together at Amakhosi during the 1993 season. They also both starred at the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations, which South Africa won.
“I will miss Shoes deeply,” concludes Khumalo, “may his soul rest in peace.”
