Chiefs are happy to welcome more players back from isolation and quarantine following the recent Covid-19 outbreak that befell the Club earlier this month when they meet Royal AM this afternoon. Even though many are back this week, not all the players are able to play the full 90 minutes as most are still working on their return to play protocol programme with the medical and technical teams.
Amakhosi welcome back Keagan Dolly, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Khama Billiat, Lebogang Manyama and Cole Alexander to the team after missing the last game.
Chiefs will meet Royal AM on the back of a convincing 2-0 win in the DStv Premiership against Sekhukhune United last week at FNB Stadium. Royal AM on the other hand drew their game against neighbours Golden Arrows as they both failed to score in that game that took place last weekend.
The visitor’s Amakhosi have played 14 games and have collected 25 points. The hosts Royal AM have played 15 games with 23 points in the bag. Amakhosi are third on the log and the hosts are in 7th position.
Coach Arthur Zwane will take charge of his second game in a row due to coach Stuart Baxter’s absence.
Even though most of the players are back, coach Zwane has opted to not make too many changes after last weekend’s win. The only change will see Dolly replace Happy Mashiane in the line-up.
Most of the changes will be on the bench and the technical team is expected to introduce some of the returnees in the second stanza of the game.
Chiefs will again play their 4-3-3 formation against Royal.
After another clean-sheet last week, Daniel Akpeyi is the goalkeeper.
Amakhosi’s defence is unchanged with Austin Dube and Siyabonga Ngezana in central defence. Siphosakhe Ntiya-Nitya will play on the left, while Reeve Frosler will be on at right-back.
Daniel Cardoso is the defensive midfielder, while last week’s goal scorer and man of the match Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Bernard Parker will operate in front of Cardoso.
With Njabulo Blom playing as an attacking right-winger, Dolly will change from his usual right-wing to the left of the field.
Leonardo Castro will lead the attack.
Parker will wear the captain’s armband.
The match officials are referee Luxolo Badi. He will be assisted by Cledwin Baloyi and Bongani Mnguni. The fourth official is Lindiwe Thwala.
The DStv Premiership between the Glamour Boys and RAM will start at 15:30 at Chatsworth Stadium in Chatsworth. No spectators will be allowed in the stadium. The game will be live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and carried by various SABC Radio stations, with regular updates of the match on Twitter @KaizerChiefs.
