“These reports are obviously news to us. We however refute the allegations that the player was not consulted about our decision to appeal against the DRC verdict. The matter was discussed with him and his family to an extent that a delegation from his family came to meet with us so as to discuss the way forward post the ruling of the DRC,” says Bobby Motaung, Football Manager of Kaizer Chiefs.
“In any event we appealed against the decision of the DRC and the hearing will still proceed on 16 November 2008,” explains Motaung
“The appeal ought to have commenced on 02 November 2008 but was postponed due to the fact that the record of the DRC held at the Professional Soccer League was incomplete in so far as not all the tapes were transcribed. During the course of last week, both attorneys from Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, made reference to their respective notes, have reconstructed the missing transcriptions and have prepared a complete record of proceedings,” he concludes.
