Amakhosi hope to earn their third victory over Orlando Pirates this season when they meet their arch rivals in the ABSA Cup final on Saturday. In keeping with the glamour associated with a Chiefs – Pirates game, sponsors ABSA have laid out the red carpet for the final.

Red incidentally happens to be the colours of the sponsors ABSA who have spared nothing in ensuring that although many people might not be in the stadium on Saturday afternoon, they have carried out various activities to ensure the public are part of the event.

One of these innovative measures in ensuring that the tournament is taken to the people. ABSA have put the ABSA Cup Trophy on show at a ABSA Branch located at 291 Smith Street in Durban.

The trophy will be on display all day on Friday and members of the public will be able to get their hands on the trophy before Chiefs or Pirates. The public will also be given the opportunity to take pictures with the trophy.

ABSA will also be handing out a host of free gifts to spectators arriving early at the stadium on Saturday. The game kicks off at 15h15, gates will open as early as 09h00. Ntambi Ravele spokesperson for the PSL said “we have a new ticketing system which we will be using for the first time so we need the cooperation of the public in order for it to work so we appeal to people to arrive early at the stadium”.

Ravele further added that there will be a ring of steel around the ABSA Stadium on Saturday and supporters without tickets will not be allowed near the stadium and will be removed by various modes of transportation before they reach the designated parking areas around the ABSA Stadium.

The PSL have urged members of the public who do not have tickets to refrain from coming to the stadium and in the interest of public safety should not travel to the stadium in the hope of purchasing tickets on the black market.

Tickets for the game have been sold out almost a fortnight ago and the league has said that anyone buying or selling tickets on the black market will be prosecuted.
