“It feels great to be back,” said George Maluleka after leading Kaizer Chiefs to a 2-0 win over Free State Stars on Tuesday night. “I am glad to have contributed to the team’s good performance.”
Maluleka was making his first appearance of the season following a lengthy recovery from injury.
“I am satisfied with my performance,” said Maluleka after having been handed the Absa Premiership Man of the Match award. “I’m very happy about receiving the Man of the Match award. It just shows that the guys had my back from the beginning.
“I can definitely still improve considering this is my first match in three months. I dedicate this award to the entire team.”
The Chiefs goals came courtesy of Gustavo Páez and Philani Zulu. This was Zulu’s second goal of the season and they came in consecutive matches.
The win is Amakhosi’s second win in a row and a tally of ten points take the side to third spot on the log on Tuesday night.
“This win is very important,” concluded Maluleka. “We were really eager to get the three points. We knew it was going to be a very difficult match, but we showed quality as a collective. I am happy we bagged the three points.”
Chiefs will on Saturday welcome AmaZulu FC. The match is scheduled at FNB Stadium. Kick-off is at 18:00.
