Kaizer Chiefs will face Madagascar’s Elgeco Plus in the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup. This after Amakhosi beat Zanzibar’s Zimamoto in the preliminary round, while Elgeco beat Deportivo Unidad from Equatorial Guinea.
On Wednesday, Elgeco lost the second leg 2-1 on the road, but they had convincingly won the first leg 3-1 at home and therefore went through 4-3 on aggregate.
Amakhosi’s Dax Andrianarimanana, who joined Chiefs at the beginning of the season, originates from Madagascar and most recently played for the local side, Foca Juniors FC.
SuperSport United faced Elgeco Plus in the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup early 2017, going through 2-1 on aggregate. Matsatsantsa actually went on to reach the final that year, only to be edged by DRC’s TP Mazembe.
Amakhosi will host Elgeco Plus for the first leg in the weekend of 14/15/16 December. The second leg will take place a week later in Madagascar, on 21/22/23 December.
Further announcements will be made shortly.
