The delegation made up of English Premier League Chairman Dave Richards and English Football Association Director David Shipshanks were first taken on a tour of the FNB Stadium by Kaizer Chiefs director Hamid Muhammad.

The delegation than made it’s way to the nearby Highveld technical college the proposed new home of the Kaizer Chiefs youth structures, the English duo were pleasantly surprised by the sprawling college and it’s facilities on offer.

They were equally pleased by the sight of the newly laid turf on the recently graded and flattened soccer fields that were most recently used as dump sites. At the end of the visit to the school Richards commented “from what I have seen today I can say that Chiefs definitely are thinking way ahead into the distant future”.

He went on by saying “I can see the vision of Chiefs and we at the FA Premier League will help them realize this vision and ensure it becomes a reality”.

The tour was rounded off by a visit to the Kaizer Chiefs village in Naturena where Richards and Shipshanks met with Kaizer Chiefs MD Kaizer Motaung and a host of other staff members including some of the players and Coach Ernst Middendorp whom they joined for lunch.

When asked what he thought of the facilities Shipshanks had the following to say “superb what more can I say, the positive energy and innovativeness from Chiefs is a perfect bench mark for other clubs in South Africa to follow”.

The FA delegation are in town to discuss with the PSL, Government and big business various ways of implementing in South Africa the successful Football in the community project which worked well in England.

The project has seen professional clubs getting involved in various community related projects from promoting literacy to providing better pitches and other related initiatives for communities around Great Britain.

Since it’s formation in England in 1993 the FA Premier League has helped uplift the standard of playing facilities in over

8 000 communities in Great Britain through its community projects.
