“We feel excited, despite the bad weather,” stresses Sivuyile Kupelo, who is the chairperson of the Kaizer Chiefs East London branch and Eastern Cape Province. “The enthusiasm of the Amakhosi faithful under the rainy conditions in Mdantsane just shows how much we love our team.”
Chiefs were today at the Mdantsane Mall, Mdantsane, on a roadshow ahead of the MTN8 Cup final taking place at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in the Eastern Cape Province on Saturday.
Defending champions Chiefs will face Ajax Cape Town on Saturday afternoon (kick-off is at 15:00).
“It is great to see people having fun,” the energetic Kupelo continues. “We are against ‘Fong Kong’ merchandise and that’s why we are happy to see Chiefs bringing their products to our door.”
“We are soaked to the skin,” comments Tracy Williams, Chiefs’ Supporters Structures Manager; Retail, Branches, Supporters. “Earlier it looked like we would be washed out. It was really hideous, but the turnout and the excitement shows there’s nothing stopping Amakhosi supporters having fun. It is so exciting to witness this.”
On promotion are Kaizer Chiefs properties from KC Retail, KC Mobile and KC Insurance. Chiefs’ main sponsor Vodacom is also present to promote their starter packs.
Kupelo urges the supporters to enjoy the final on Saturday but also to have a safe and enjoyable experience.
“We will work closely with our structures to spread the message of safety at the stadium,” concludes Kupelo. “The supporters must arrive alive at the stadium and back home again.”
On Friday, 18 September, the KC Roadshow moves to Uitenhage. This activation will be held in front of the Shoprite at the KwaNobuhle Complex Mall between 12:00 and 17:00.
Bring seven (7) friends along to the KC Roadshow and all 8 (7+1) get a free KC Mobile starter pack with R20 airtime and qualify for a draw to win tickets to the game, win a Kaizer Chiefs jersey and a smartphone loaded with airtime.
Also, please come and meet Kaizer Chiefs players between 15:00 and 16:00 in Uitenhage.
Everyone who keeps their KC Mobile SIM Card in their phones for more than eight days after activating at the Roadshow will be given R29 airtime - amounting to more than R50 000 worth of airtime in total.
On match day, the Kaizer Chiefs Retail Team will be selling authentic merchandise in the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium precinct with anticipation rising to fever pitch as kick-off approaches for the MTN8 final.
