Kaizer Chiefs took time off from their busy schedule to visit the Hillside based school, Erica House Combined School on Wednesday afternoon.



The reigning Vodacom Challenge champions led by Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung received a rousing reception from the visibly elated children.



Players Itumeleng “Spider-Kid” Khune, Kaizer “Anelka” Motaung JR, Keegan Ritchie, Brent Lawler, Arthur Bartman, Lucky “KAKA” Khune, Lehlohonolo “Mr. Goals” Majoro, Gerald “Tso” Sibeko, local boy Siyabulela Songwiqi and Assistant Coach, Arthur “10111” Zwane spent most of their time speaking to the kids with Itumeleng Khune urging them to listen to their parents and teachers as there are the ‘leaders’.



Head Master, Eugene Coetzee speaking to kaizerchiefs.com sang the praises of the team for taking an initiative to visit the school.



“This is a memorable day for us at Erica House Combined School. The day 20th July 2011 will forever be engraved on the children’s minds for the rest of their lives. It is also important to note that the event takes place two days after the whole world celebrated the birthday of our icon, Nelson Mandela who celebrated his 93rd birthday on Monday, 18 July 2011.”



“The young boy sitted on Arthur Zwane’s lap might not be fully aware because of his age of what is happening here today but the picture will tell the story that on this day we hosted the mighty Kaizer Chiefs,” noted Coetzee affectionately known as “Papa Coetzee”.



“Kaizer Chiefs is without a doubt the most successful Club in the history of football in South Africa. It is a model of what Club football is all about. I would like to thank you for taking time to come here this afternoon,” added Coetzee.



Siyamthanda Djantjies (14) joined her Head Master is paying tribute to the Glamour Boys, “Thank you for all what you doing for the country in line with your social responsibility. We shall remember this day for the rest of our lives. God bless you.”



Siyabulela Songwiqi, born and bred in Port Elizabeth expressed his delight to kaizerchiefs.com following an opportunity to spend time with the young kids from his hometown, “I am very happy to be here today and I am sure I am speaking on behalf of the players, the Technical Team and the Management of the Club.”



“I was not so lucky growing up to see my heroes as you all did today and I hope the team’s visit will serve as an inspiration to all of you. I wish you all the best in all that you endeavor in life,”



The School’s Acting Manager, Mr. Scott who was also grateful on the day had one more wish to make to the players, “Please do us proud on Thursday evening against Orlando Pirates,”
