"I was testing the youngsters and I am happy with their
performance," said Ertugral.
"We want the league title next season and defending the Challenge
has given the guys the morale boost they need.
"It takes time to build young players and I will need the
experienced guys when we fight for league."
It was goalkeeper Brian Baloyi who became the hero - making two
crucial saves after misses by Jabu Pule and Arthur Zwane.
Chiefs' successful penalties were converted by Patrick Mabedi,
Daniel Matsau and Jose Macamo, while the two Asante goals were
scored by Joe Hendricks and Joe Sam.
Baloyi pulled off saves against Louis Quainoo and Stephen Oduro,
while Felix Yeboah missed because he shopt wide.
Ertugral said: "Penalties are always about luck. We started out
well, but did not go to the box enough."
Amakhosi used mainly youngsters except Bafana Bafana 'keeper
Baloyi, Marco Mthembu, Cyril Nzama and Zwane.
Former Wits University player Stanton Fredericks played well with
former under-23 player Patrick Mbuthu in the middle, but at the
beginning of the second half Ertugral replaced them with Sibusiso
Sithole and Macamo respectively.
"I admit we struggled when Mbuthu and Fredericks came off, but we
eventually adapted," said Ertugral.
"The Challenge is about testing young talent."
Asante coach Ernest Middendorp said it was a lucky situation. "We
did what we could; unfortunately luck was not on our side."
He added: "We are also hoping to win the league next season."
