Kaizer Chiefs mentor Muhsin Ertugral has paid a glowing tribute to the former Amakhosi captain Cyril Nzama who has found a new home at Bay United.

The Soweto-born defender will for the first time come up against his former teammates since making the switch from Naturena to the Friendly Province.

Nzama joined Chiefs in 1999 making more than 200 appearances for the club. He was appointed the captain in 2005 leading the Glamour Boys to victories against Orlando Pirates in the Absa Cup, SuperSport United in the SAA Super 8 and against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Telkom Knockout.

“He deserves respect for the service he has given the club for so many years,” said Ertugral addressing the Media at the club’s Media Day on Thursday.

“I signed him from Bush Bucks and he grew to be one of the most important players in the squad. He was always dedicated in his job. His success here speaks for itself…we are all grateful for what he did for the club.

“He will come up against us on Sunday, and like any other player, will always have a point to prove playing against his former team. There is also Patrick Mayo who also did well for the club while he was here - so it will be interesting coming up against them on Sunday,” he said.

“Our focus though will be on the whole team. The boys are itching for this game,” he concluded.
