Fabian finally wins battle against Downs

Former national under-23 defender Fabian McCarthy is officially a Kaizer Chiefs player after winning the battle against Sundowns who, after losing the labour court battle, lodged an appeal but the appeal was also dismissed.

The Pretoria side claimed that there was a clause in McCarthy's contract that gave them first option to sign the player. However the appeal's court dismissed the case with costs. Sundowns have been ordered to pay all legal costs and McCarthy can happily look forward to his first game in the famous black and gold.

Defending Coca-Cola Cup champions Amakhosi - still fresh from an impressive victory against Golden Arrows on Sunday - will now hope for the same performance in the league match against Wits University on Wednesday.
