The Amakhosi Festive Vibe took Durban by storm between Sunday and Monday, December 18-19 as the Club, in conjunction with Hollard, went to Umlazi and Pietermaritzburg.
In both activations the Amakhosi faithful came out in numbers wearing their gold and black regalia singing and dancing.
The festive vibe was launched early this month in Johannesburg and saw the Club visiting first, Soweto and then Pretoria. This time it has moved to Durban where the Glamour Boys enjoy lot of support.
Marketing Director Jessica Motaung was pleased by the visit to the two destinations. "This was our first activation in Pietermaritzburg and we were pleased with the support we got from there. The Club has always been popular in Pietermaritzburg where our goalkeeper, Arthur Bartman hails from. The visit to Umlazi brought back a lot of memories as we were last there back in 2009. The Club obviously visited Umlazi in the 70s and people there still speak fondly about the memories the Glamour Boys left in the township.
"Once again we are grateful as the Club to work with Hollard in bringing the Club to the people in Durban. This exercise gave us an opportunity to catch up with our branches. We were also able to create awareness around counterfeit as we have been doing in other provinces. The supporters understand the importance of buying authentic merchandise and that is the reason the Supporters Club and the Retail Team has been with us throughout the country," said Motaung.
On Monday, the fans came out in numbers at Edendale Mall in Pietermaritzburg despite the scorching sun and they did not go home empty handed as they won big prizes courtesy of both Kaizer Chiefs and Hollard.
The Supporters Club and the Retail Team continued to interact, register and renew membership while also selling merchandise.
Sales and Distribution, Rehena Naidoo who was at the event was equally pleased with the activation; "This for us at Hollard has been quite an experience starting at Umlazi where there was lot of vibe and coming here dealing with relatively a younger market. The activations have been a remarkable success and we are quite pleased to be doing this with Kaizer Chiefs. Through this exercise we were able to sell our products face to face while interacting with our market. Most importantly this gave us an opportunity to promote our partnership with Kaizer Chiefs."
The Amakhosi Festive Vibe will continue on Tuesday with a roadshow at Victoria Street Market from 11:00 to 15:00. There will be lot of giveaways and entertainment in store for the fans.
Meanwhile, the team led received an arousing welcome from the Amakhosi faithful as they touched down at King Shaka International Airport on Monday afternoon ahead of their Absa Premiership fixture against AmaZulu on Tuesday, 20 December 2011.
