Fifa give Dumitru all-clear

New Kaizer Chiefs coach Ted Dumitru has been cleared of any 'blacklisting' by world football controlling body Fifa following claims by Sundowns that the Romanian-born manager was barred from working in SA by Safa.

The Pretoria club made these claims after an announcement by the Naturena side that Dumitru was the new man in charge of the Amakhosi team.

Not that Chiefs were bothered by such innuendoes. A report in the daily Citizen newspaper quoted Fifa media officer John Schumacher as saying the world football governing body was not aware of such a "ban".

"If there is such a suspension," said Schumacher, "we have not been able to trace any records to this effect."

In addition, Safa CEO Ali Mokoena did indicate in an interview with The Star after Dumitru's appoitment that he was not aware of such a "ban".
