Preparations for the Telkom Knockout Last 16 fixture against Bidvest Wits were boosted on Thursday when seven players who were called up for international duty reported for training session at Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena on Thursday morning.
The only player who did not report out of the eight players was Captain and Goalkeeper, Itumeleng ‘Spider’ Khune who has been given a compassionate leave following the passing away of his sister last week.
Bernard Parker
Bernard Parker was involved in both Bafana Bafana games against Poland and Kenya. He was one of the outstanding players against Kenya as he was involved in both goals as Bafana Bafana won 2-1 at Nyayo Stadium.
Reneilwe Letsholonyane
Yeye came in as a second half substitute against Poland as South Africa pushed for a winner. He was not used against Kenya.
George Lebese
Lebese was rewarded with a call up by Coach Gordon Igesund following impressive performances for the Club in recent weeks was used as a late substitute during the Poland’s game.
Lincoln Zvasiya
Used mostly as a utility player for Zimbabwe, ‘Harare’ was unused substitute as Zimbabwe lost 2-0 in Angola dashing the chances of Nations Cup appearance in South Africa in 2013.
Kingston Nkhatha
‘Cijimpi’ was used as a late substitute against Angola but could not help his side to qualify for Nations Cup 2013.
Eric Mathoho
‘Tower’ was not used in both games against Poland and Kenya and will be hoping to continue with his impressive performances for the team to keep his place in the squad.
Siphiwe Tshabalala
He remains one of the important players in Gordon’s team with the wealth of experience and featured in both against Poland and Kenya.
Itumeleng Khune
Mzansi’s no. 1 goalkeeper was outstanding against Poland keeping Bafana Bafana on the game and should be disappointed that he ended up on the losing side in that game. He did not play any part against Kenya last Tuesday.
