First part of Majoro’s dream fulfilled

In a major coup for the Amakhosi ahead of the 2011/2012 season, this week they managed to bring to Naturena the dangerous striker Lehlohonolo Majoro from AmaZulu.

Majoro was second in the Absa Premiership goal scorer’s charts to another Chiefs player Knowledge Musona last season, the ambitious former AmaZulu attacker spoke exclusively to kaizerchiefs.com about his dream move and his ambitions for the future.

Welcome to Chiefs Lehlohonolo, given all that has happened in the last week it must have been a frantic couple of days?

Lehlohonolo Majoro: While the negotiations were ongoing between Chiefs and AmaZulu I was kept in the loop by my business manager as to the progress of the negotiations. It all went smoothly and I am glad to be a Chiefs player.

When he told me that everything was done I was extremely happy, it was always my dream and desire to play for one of the biggest teams in the country.

You have managed to achieve that and given that your move is a high profile one do you think that there will be added pressure on you in the coming season?

Lehlohonolo Majoro: I believe that wherever you go as a player there will always be expectations on you to perform well and you need to perform to the standard that is required of you. I am ready for the challenges that lie ahead of me at this fantastic team.

Last season other teams set up and took notice of you, can you replicate those performances at Chiefs?

Lehlohonolo Majoro: Whenever you are given a chance you need to make the most of it, you need to try by all means to make the opportunity count in your favour. Last season I was given a chance and I believe that I played to the best of my abilities which helped me score 14 league goals and also opened up the way for me to join Chiefs.

Do you think that it is ironic in some way that your last goal for Amazulu was against Chiefs?

Lehlohonolo Majoro: No (laughs) I don’t think so, I wanted to score as many goals as I could in the final game and it just happened to be against Chiefs. Fortunately I did get one goal in the final game of the season.

How has your welcome been at Chiefs?

Lehlohonolo Majoro: Everyone has been warm and friendly; the coach introduced me and all the new players to the rest of the guys. He did tell us that no one will be putting any pressure on us, and that we need to enjoy ourselves and give our best to our jobs.

Lastly, you have been handed the number 20 jersey the same number you had at AmaZulu is that a good sign?

Lehlohonolo Majoro: That is good for me and I am glad that I managed to retain my old number; hopefully it can bring me the same success that it did last season.

The 2010 – 2011 season was the foundation for me I was fortunate enough to score 14 league goals and I will work harder this time out to do better. Let’s see as the season progresses how things work out.
