Defenders Buti Sithole and Bevan Bouwers, midfielders Damien Cornelli and Junior Khanye will depart with the team for camp on Sunday. They start training on Monday.
The SA national under-20 side, Amajita will resume their official programme with a crucial African Youth Championship qualifying match against Madagascar on July 20 in Port Elizabeth.
The SA Football Association (Safa), announced a few changes to the technical team of Amajita.
According to the Chief Operations Officer of Safa, Albert Mokoena: "We have appointed Aboebaker Williams as caretaker coach. As coach of the under-17 national team, Williams is a perfect coach to handle such an important match as the majority of the under-20 players have come through the ranks at under-17 level.
"Safa is also pleased to take this important under-20 match to Port Elizabeth. It is rare for two countries to be scheduled to play two matches against the same country on the same weekend. As the two teams from Madagascar – Senior and Under 20 – were travelling on the same flight, we decided to offer Port Elizabeth a chance to host the two matches.
“We hope that soccer fans from the Friendly City will come in large numbers to support the two teams. Amajita are the foundation for the senior national team. It is only through encouraging and supporting the players that they can dig deep in difficult moments of the match and at the end win," said Mokoena.
This match against Madagascar is Amajita’s first step in the qualification process for a place in African Youth Championship finals scheduled for Burkina Faso in January 2003.
Amajita will assemble in Port Elizabeth on Sunday, 14 July 2002 in the afternoon. Starting from Monday 15 to Thursday 18 July, the team will conduct two training sessions a day. The first being at 09:30 and the second at 15:30 at UPE training grounds. Two practice matches have been organised against local teams.
The return match in Madagascar is scheduled for the weekend of 10-11 August.
