Amakhosi fullback, Reeve Frosler, made a welcome return to action in midweek by supplying two assists shortly after coming on as a substitute in Chiefs’ 4-1 win over Magesi in Polokwane on Wednesday evening.
The 28-year-old had a frustrating time being sidelined but found a silver lining to keep him occupied during his recovery.
“Being out injured is no fun for any player and I’m no different,” he tells www.kaizerchiefs.com, “It was difficult from that point of view but turned out to be good timing because my wife and I were expecting our second-born and being at home, I could help her around the house. It was a great feeling to get back on the field again, though.”
Frosler showed his versatility in setting up Amakhosi’s third and fourth goals of their emphatic victory, first with a clever cut-back from the bye-line for Mduduzi Shabalala to finish, moments of coming on in the 61st minute and then swinging over a superbly flighted cross from wide out for Khanyisa Mayo to nod hoe at the fa post, seven minutes from full-time.
“It always nice to make a contribution. The good first half performance of the team made it easy for me to come in. We were two goals up already and playing on the front foot,” he says with self-effacing modesty.
Of Polokwane City, their opponents on Saturday, he says, “They will be difficult to play against in the old Peter Mokaba stadium, but we will just stick to our own strategy and go out to execute our plans to get three points.”
Indeed, Amakhosi are looking for their sixth consecutive win, a run they are determined to continue to extend, as explained by Frosler, “Winning games breeds confidence and the desire to keep progressing. Mentally, it fortifies the belief that we know how to win and to pursue that goal relentlessly.”
The Gqeberha-born fullback encourages the fans to come out and inspire them to keep up their winning streak.
“I am very grateful to our supporters who have been there for us through the good and the bad. They must please keep up the support and we will do our best to finish as high up the table as possible,” he says in conclusion.
The match kicks off at 17:30 on Saturday, 18 April at the old Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane.
