Kaizer Chiefs are back in action tonight after the September FIFA International break to take on Sekhukhune United in their sixth Betway Premiership match of the season at FNB Stadium.
With a chance of ascending to the top of the league table, Amakhosi and Sekhukhune will be looking to win the match and leapfrog Mamelodi Sundowns, who summited to the top of the standings after their win on Sunday.
Babina Noko and Amakhosi lie second and third on the log table respectively, both on 13 points after five games played, and yet to lose a game this season.
Amakhosi have not even conceded a goal and still want to maintain that record when they take on Sekhukhune.
Brandon Petersen is on the cusp of setting a new record of going for seven games without conceding a goal should he keep a clean sheet this evening.
Coach Nasreddine Nabi and his technical team have welcomed back the five players who were on national duty but will not be happy as defender Thabiso Monyane picked up an injury that keeps him out this evening.
Apart from that enforced change, the coach has also decided to make three more alterations to the team when compared to the XI that started the last match against Golden Arrows in Durban.
Defender Reeve Frosler will start his first game of the season, coming in for Monyane at right back. Still in the defence, Aden McCarthy returns after missing a few matches through injury. Up front, Gaston Sirino comes in for Mduduzi Shabalala and Flavio Da Silva - who scored in the last match - starts his first match for Amakhosi, replacing Ashley Du Preez.
The team has changed to a 4-4-2 formation this evening.
Brandon Petersen will be hoping for another clean sheet, which would be his seventh in a row, as he start in goals.
In defence, Paseka Mako is on the left, with McCarthy and Inacio Miguel in the centre of defence. Frosler starts his first game of the season, playing on the right.
Sibongiseni Mthethwa will play the holding role in midfield. Siphesihle Ndlovu will work with Pule Mmodi just in front of Mthethwa, while Sirino will be deployed just behind the strikers.
Da Silva will lead the front line.
This evening’s referee is Abongile Tom. He will be assisted by Romario Phiri and Mervyn van Wyk. The fourth official is Happy Nhlanhla.
Amakhosi’s sixth Betway Premiership match of the 2025/26 season against Bahlabane ba ntwa commences at 19:30 at FNB Stadium. The match will be live on SuperSport’s channel 202, with live commentary on most SABC radio stations. There will be live updates on the Club’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account, @kaizerchiefs.
