Chiefs victory over Sundowns has meant that the Amakhosi are now with in touching distance of Orlando Pirates and Sundowns at the top of the PSL table. Some outstanding goalkeeping from Rowen kept Chiefs in the game against the Brazilians for Rowen though it was another night at the office as he added.
“I needed to demonstrate to the fans and my team mates that I can be a team player and I needed to play the game of my life which I think I did”. Rowen did have a few tense moments against Sundowns on one occasion spilling the ball at the feet of the Sundowns strikers but he recovered to keep a clean sheet “it happens in these big games that you will make a mistake. The ability to quickly recover is the difference between winning and losing,” added Rowen.
With victory over Sundowns confidence in the Chiefs camp is high, and talk of a third PSL title although muted is being thought about of which Rowen says “this victory has really done one thing and that it has put our title aspirations back on track. We still have ten games to go and we have to play to our potential in each one, so victory against Dynamos on Saturday is as important as beating Sundowns was on Wednesday”.
With the gap at the top down to two points Chiefs will be looking to take another leap towards a third PSL title when they take on ninth placed Dynamos this weekend. Chiefs are well aware of the proverbial Banana Peel and will be ensuring they walk the fine line before facing Sundowns again next week.
