Head Coach Stuart Baxter and Captain Itumeleng Khune sang praises of Pa Gaxa who scored his first goal for the Club and was deservingly named Man of the Match against Ajax Cape Town.
Gaxa was superb against Ajax Cape Town and did not put his foot wrong as he inspired the Amakhosi to an emphatic win against Ajax Cape Town.
Baxter revealed to kaizerchiefs.com after the game that he spoke to the player affectionately known in football circles as ‘Nesta’ before the game.
“I told him; ‘you have been doing well and now you are regaining your fitness following an injury. I want you to take it a step further against Ajax Cape Town and give a big performance. Be aggressive going forward.’
“We did not use him in the first half due to us losing a lot of possession. We came alive in the second half and Pa started getting into the game more. He was solid and superb going forward. He joined up with the attacking play very well. He is certainly the best attacking right back in South Africa now.
Khune who has played with Pa in the national team believes that the KwaZulu/Natal born defender does more than just defending in the team.
“Pa is also a calming influence in the team. I saw him calling the guys after we scored the second goal reminding them to focus and take it easy. He is one of the leaders in this team having played for more than 50 times for Bafana and also played in Europe.
“His anticipation and reading of the game is superb,” continued Khune. “I am happy for him also scoring his first goal for the Club. Having worked hard in the past couple of weeks to get to his best, he deserves it,” added Khune.
