Siboniso Gaxa joined his new teammates for the first time in training at Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena on Wednesday after signing a three-year deal with an option to renew for one year last week.
Gaxa is the first signing for the Glamour Boys in preparation for the next season and it might have sent a strong message about the intentions to challenge for honours in 2012/2013 season.
“I woke at 5am this morning and I just could not wait to come to the Village to join my new teammates for the first time.
“I want to enjoy my football again but most importantly I am here to help the team win trophies. The Club has big ambitions going forward and I want to be part of this.
Gaxa revealed to kaizerchiefs.com that he did not speak to any of his teammates about coming here; “When my Manager called me to tell me that Chiefs were interested in my services I did not even think twice about joining them. I did not speak to any of the guys in the team including my teammates at Bafana.
“I made the decision myself, taking into consideration a lot of factors including my family and my daughter. I played almost every game in Belgium this season. I was happy and the team was happy but I decided to come back home.
“Everyone has been good since my arrival here and you can see that Kaizer Chiefs is one of the biggest Clubs in the country in the way players are taken care of.
“I would like to wish the guys all the best against AmaZulu on Saturday. It is very important that we end the season on a high note.
Meanwhile Football Manager Bobby Motaung revealed that the Club has approached SuperSport United for the services of defender Morgan Gould, Bloemfontein Celtic for the services of Eric Mathoho and Free State Stars for the services of striker Edward Manqele.
