“It was with great shock that we heard about the triple heart-attack our Amakhosi legend Neil ‘Mokoko’ Tovey suffered on Tuesday,” says Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung. “We have been in contact with him and we are happy to hear that he’s on the road to recovery.”

John ‘Shoes’ Moshoeu is another Chiefs legend who has been struggling with his health for a while now. Amakhosi has been in communication with his family and are tracking his progress closely.

“Like Neil, Shoes is a player who we will always respect,” Motaung continues. “They were both fantastic players wearing the Gold and Black. However, above all, they are great human beings. We also want to wish Shoes strength on his journey to get well soon.”

Chiefs would like to ask people to respect the privacy of both families.
