Kaizer Chiefs took part in Vodacom’s annual Gender Based Violence Walk on Wednesday morning at Vodacom World in Midrand. The walk which took place during the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children period, is aimed at raising awareness and to stop the abuse of women and children. The number of women who are abused by their partners is rising at an alarming rate and this needs to be stopped.
Vodacom’s management and staff, including representatives from Orlando Pirates, Vodacom Blue Bulls Rugby and Emirates Lions Rugby gathered at Vodacom World in the morning for the event which included welcome speeches, testimonials, entertainment and giveaways.
Placards were used to amplify the message the participants chanted during the walk that took place inside Vodacom World.
Kaizer Chiefs were represented by their youth development coaches, Ace Khuse and Arthur Zwane, and a few players, Kgotso Moleko, Brylon Petersen, Given Thibedi and Itumeleng Shopane.
#HearMeToo was the hashtag of the day that was used to spread awareness.
This year’s 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children campaign started on 25 November and will continue until 10 December 2018.
