Managing Director, Bheki Shongwe met the two boys at the gate when he reported to work this morning.
“I was surprised the way he knew the history of the Club and the players including those who played here in the past. It is important for kids early in their age to identify themselves with the brand,” said a touched Shongwe who asked the Technical Team to allow the boys to enjoy the last 15 minutes of training with their heroes.
Simphiwe who always follows the Club as far as Durban thanked Bheki Shongwe and everyone at the village for allowing them to come train with the team for the first time in their lives. The youngsters showed nerves of steel as they turned Jeffrey Ntuka, George Lebese, Wayne Matle and others inside out to the admiration of Richard Langa who was watching from the stand.
“I never thought it would happen…we just came to watch the team training,” said the delighted Simphiwe while Sihle Gama standing next to him was all smiles.
“My favourite player is Siphiwe Tshabalala,” jumped Sihle. “He was not here today but I will not give up on the hope of meeting him one day,”
Simphiwe who is very knowledgeable about the game urged the coach to play Itumeleng Khune and Arthur Zwane, “Itumeleng Khune and Arthur Zwane should start the game against SuperSport United tonight but it does not really matter who plays as long as we going to win the game. Please send my regards to the team and wish them all the luck for tonight. I believe we can still win the league because we did well to win the Vodacom Challenge in July where we beat a top side like Manchester City,” added the young Simphiwe.
