Coach Steve Komphela has decided to bring Lorenzo Gordinho, Edmore Chirambadare and Bernard Parker back into the starting line-up for this afternoon’s Soweto Derby.

Gordinho was suspended for last week’s Ajax Cape Town game, while Chirambadare and Parker started on the bench. ‘Die Hond’ was saved for the Derby, as another yellow card in the Ajax clash would have resulted in the striker having to miss this afternoon’s fixture due to suspension.

Chirambadare replaces George Lebese, who started in the draw against the Urban Warriors.

This will be the 161st Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, with the first coming on 24 January 1970, 17 days after the foundation of the club.

Amakhosi have won 67 of the present 160 encounters between the two sides, while the Buccaneers won 38 times and 50 matches resulted in a draw. Five matches were abandoned over the years, usually due to crowd violence.

It will today be Siphiwe Tshabalala’s 29th appearance in a Soweto Derby, which is the most since the foundation of the PSL in 1996.

Kaizer Chiefs host Orlando Pirates in an Absa Premiership fixture at FNB Stadium (kick-off is at 15:30).
