‘Tough as Teak’ defender, Morgan Gould insisted speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Tuesday that he is far from returning to his best, this following his form in the past two games coupled with his first goal in the gold and black against Bidvest Wits on Saturday, 23 February in the Nedbank Cup Last 32.
The Soweto born defender has fully recovered from the raptured Achilles tendon that kept him on the sidelines for more than five months.
“It was disappointing to watch the guys from the sidelines but I have always believed that I will bounce back. I am delighted to be back in the team and that the Technical Team has given me an opportunity to play. I would like to thank everyone for the wonderful support in particular the Medical Team and my family,” said Gould.
Gould also expressed his delight to have scored his first goal for the Club; “The goal meant a lot to me for my confidence and what I have been through in the past couple of months. It was important for us to win the game as well.
I dedicated the goal against BidVest Wits to my son, Uthando who was celebrating his third birthday on Friday,” said Gould pointing to the tattooed name of his son on his arm.
“I always look at my life like a candle, the small light that makes a difference. I am far from being fully fit. I think I need three or so games to be back in full fitness. I will continue to grab opportunities as presented to me by the Technical Team.
It brings me joy to have re-joined my teammates on the pitch and the spirit in this team is high but we all know that there are even bigger battles ahead of us. We need to continue fighting and unite behind our main objective as the Club to Reclaim the Glory!,” added Gould.
