Injured defender, Morgan Gould has backed his teammates to do even better as the season progresses.

The ‘no-nonsense’ defender joined by his teammate, Jimmy Tau who is also injured watched from the stands as the Glamour Boys opened a four point lead at the top of Absa Premiership table following an emphatic victory against his former team, SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday evening.

“Congratulations to the guys; we played extremely well and we deserve all the points in this game,” he told kaizerchiefs.com after the match.

“I felt that we started a bit slow trying to do too much. In the second half we really played well and the guys fought for each other on the pitch. The conditions in particular in the first half were not favourable for both teams but the guys should get the credit for putting in a good fight.

“I also think we did not panic when SuperSport United scored an equaliser. The guys continued to play their normal game. I felt that this was not the case in the past where we would panic if a team scores against us.

“I think there is a clear sign of character in this team and we are going to get even better as the season progresses.

Gould also revealed that his rehabilitation was going quite well; “It was nice for me and Jimmy (Tau) to join the guys during camp in Polokwane. The Technical Team and everyone were welcoming and when we went out to greet the fans they were fantastic as always. This is when you really feel you are part of a big family. Thank you to everyone for the well wishes.

I am happy with the progress of the rehabilitation and once again the medical team I have been working with has been excellent. I am sure for all the other guys who are out with long term injuries feel the same,” added Gould.
