Founded on 7 January 1970, Kaizer Chiefs have cemented their status in and beyond South Africa as a leading football club. The journey of the Club is well recorded as one of the South African success stories. Amakhosi as they are affectionately known has over the years become a beacon of hope for all in sundry and has been home to past and present crème de la crème of football talent.
The birth of this gigantic establishment was spearheaded by Kaizer ‘Chincha Guluva’ Motaung and his compatriots. ‘Chincha Guluva’ has inspired the concept behind Amakhosi and throughout the years the Club has emulated Chincha’s pioneering spirit, leadership, humility and kindness.
Kaizer Chiefs continues 43 years after to grow from strength to strength and has transcended the boundaries as a Football Club to become one of the leading Lifestyle Brands in socioeconomic space. The strength of the Club lies in its massive support base in South Africa and across the borders. The Gold and Black colours have distinguished Amakhosi supporters across the length and breadth of Mzansi.
The success of the Club is displayed in their trophy cabinet, a closer look at the achievements of the club tells a story of commitment, dedication and consistency. The trophy cabinet doesn’t only show the records of achievement but also demonstrates how far the Amakhosi have come to reach this milestone and deservedly be referred to as the Kings of South African Soccer.
As we celebrate this moment in time, the Club through the Executive Chairman Kaizer Motaung has on many occasions paid tribute to the founding members and all the people who have made a contribution to the growth and development of the Club. The Chairman has consistently pronounced his graciousness and gratitude to God for having spared him to see through the evolution of this Gold and Black badge. The history of Chiefs is no doubt decorated with glamour, innovation and trend setting.
The Club would like to thank all past and present stakeholders for their support. Kaizer Chiefs as a process and work in progress will strive to continue to grow from strength to strength.
