In his letter to the president of Malagasy Football association, Hayatou said: “I am devastated by the death of two fans who died yesterday and today,
“On behalf of the confederation of African Football, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the members of Malagasy football association and exhort the family of the victim the fortitude to bear the unexpected loss of our football fan.”
The Confederation of African football has been in touch with the match commissioner who was on the ground during the game played on Sunday and he will submit a report. A commission of enquiry will be set up to study the match commissioner’s report, which will be submitted to the organising committee.
The agenda of the next inter-clubs committee will focus mainly on security aspects during preliminary rounds, which is mainly placed under the responsibility of the national associations for both Champions League and Confederation Cup. Caf normally appoint a general coordinator from the group stages to look after issues like security.
